war on terror + police

America has always had issues with power, police and prisoners. The consideration given towards prisoners is always lacking and the numbers are so undeniable the reflection of a society’s nature is the treatment of its prisoners then America is sadly failing. The enforcement of law has become acceptable to any degree and the needless over enforcement has become more militarised than any reasonable society would want. Police actions have started to mirror army assaults more than the enacting of a no knock warrants on non-violent, first time offenders. Such warrants have been utilized in raids on minors leading to three deaths so far. What might be considered nothing but stupidity will result instant arrest in any airport and so far cases involving praying, looking Arab or carrying a book have seen people ejected from airports. Children (and the cases are multiple) have been arrested and put in cuffs as young as six. The Police Chief of the region stated that 6 year olds could cause serious harm and one must cuff there biceps as there wrists are too small.
The actual impact of guns in the US is obvious but the resistance control is wrested in some romanticized vision of cowboys and an identifiable 'bad guy.' Now that memory which was really true has been tainted by a literal gang culture of a white power elite with intentions to militarize the police/ waste lots of money. They have been very successful so far and the people are more than willing to support state, the politicians, the troops by wearing a yellow ribbon on their SUV's and thinking that it makes a difference. We support the troops, we support them killing people who don't matter anymore to us than numbers on a screen, and we support our police officers using paramilitary tactics on all levels of society.
The existence of a slave class is perhaps the most revealing, 1.5 million in prison and a vast number of them working for about as much as a Chinese sweatshop employee. The institutionally racist legal system and prison system is a powerful industry and weapons manufactures are constantly looking for new ways to kill people and sell that on to the state. Rapid firing hand guns, non lethal weapons used to the point of lethality, brutal tactics developed by the special forces - equality in the US means your just more likely to shot by someone in of your own skin colour if you are the target of racial profiling. The Business of terror and provoking an unnecessary response is very American, as a whole crime is falling every decade as well as the death penalty. All we need is for America to go through a bit more social change and perhaps we can visit without the fear of being shot for having a suntan or just existing the wrong place at the wrong time.
